Annual Report 2020-21

Unemployment is a raging issue in the country today. However, there is good news in the hospitality Industry as there is huge requirement in this sector and there is no dearth of jobs. The issue is of employable skills that are required to be eligible for recruitment.

Visan Foundation decided to address this national agenda by focussing on Employment Linked Skill Development Programs. The focus area for the Skill Development was chosen to be the most under-developed region of our country – the North Eastern states.

The youth from NE region have excellent communication skills and possess a natural cultural blend of service in their nature and are an absolute fit for the service industry. But they lack the polishing and preparation, and thus after skilling them they would be absolutely ready to be employed by the best of the hospitality brands.

With this premise Visan Foundation conducted Honda India Foundation CSR program for skilling BPL youth from the North Eastern states in 2020-21. A brief overview of this program is as follows:

Honda Two-Wheeler India CSR Initiative

Honda India Foundation signed an MoU with Visan Foundation to train 70 underprivileged north east youth. The training was for the job role of Food & Beverage Service Steward NSQF level 4.

This program yielded excellent results of 100% placement with more than 10% getting placed internationally. It was a very fulfilling experience to train tribal BPL youth of North East and transform their lives to a better and brighter future.

During this training, the students got trained on the following National Occupational Standards:

  • Plan for serving Food and Beverages
  • Greet customers, take orders and serve
  • Clean tables and counters

This helped the students to understand about the industry where they are stepping in, their job role, as well as their job profile in detail. It transformed the students, who came to us after completing their school education, to budding hoteliers.
