Founder & Managing Trustee

Sangeeta Ranjit, Founder & Managing Trustee of Visan Foundation, is graduate in Microbiology and a Post Graduate of Oberoi Center for Learning & Development. She started her career with The Oberoi Hotels Mumbai and The Trident Chennai, then moving on to Holiday Inn Khajuraho as an Executive Housekeeper.

In 1998, During her posting at Ooty, she decided to become a Hospitality Educator and joined the prestigious Merit Swiss Asian School of Hotel Management. There was no looking back from then on. She had her calling and she loved what she did – Training youth to be Hoteliers.

Her teaching career spans over two decades, working with the College of Tourism & Hospitality, New Delhi, under Rai Foundation, and Regional Director with IAM Kolkata, and then being appointed as a Director with IIHM. She spearheaded IIHM campus outside Kolkata, starting their first campus In Gurgaon. During her tenure at IIHM, she was introduced to Skill Development, which was in its nascent stages.

She realized that there was a huge requirement for good, trained staff in the Hospitality industry, while there were lakhs of unemployed youth. To bridge this gap, she decided to start her own school of hospitality.

To spread her wings to impact more and more underprivileged students, she set up Visan Foundation to take her dream forward of skilling and educating girls of the nation, with her late daughter Natasha. The Vision of Visan Foundation is to transform lives for a better future. Her endeavor is to reach out to as many people as possible through partnerships of corporates, govt organizations and likeminded professionals and committed individuals.

Visan Foundation partnered with various organizations to fulfil her dream of training youth under their CSR Programs that readily supported her initiative. Gail India, HPCL, KPMG, Honda India Foundation, United Way of Delhi, Sarovar Hotels, Hero MotoCorp, Microsoft and many more, supported her to provide an opportunity to reach and train marginalized youth from all over the country through employment linked residential training. Delhi Police YUVA program was associated with Visan when it was launched in 2012. Gurgaon Police also partnered Visan’s initiatives for Gurgaon and Faridabad regions.

Sangeeta realized that if these youth were trained with better Communication and Soft Skills, they would have a better profile, extremely important for the hospitality industry. Her desire to prepare them at a young age gave her the opportunity to work with United Way of Delhi for 3 years training thousands of Govt & NGO schools in Delhi NCR.

Her passion to work for the upliftment of women led her to bring the ladies out of their homes despite the opposition from society, and train them for employment and entrepreneurship. Thousands have been impacted and their lives totally changes in distant villages of Gurgaon like Chandu, Budhera, slums of Feroz Gandhi colony, as well as slums of Mangolpuri and Sultanpur in Delhi, to prepare the first ever cohort of 100 strong Women E-rickshaw drivers and owners in the country.

She continues her work in areas of supporting and training women, youth and children for a better future. With more than three decades of rich experience in the hospitality industry she has dedicated her life to be what she loves to be – A Teacher. Thousands of students from the marginalized sections of society have been trained and placed, across the globe.
