The Need for Skill Development

In present times **Skill development** assumes special significance in India as there is a gradual change taking place in the employment scenario of the country. Scarcity of skilled labour remains one of the most pressing problems faced by small and medium enterprises.

India has a huge rural workforce which till date remains untapped. This force can be trained and then integrated into the mainstream economy to bridge the skills gap.

Keeping the above in view, Visan Foundation undertaken the following programmes in 2014-15:

Targeting slum areas and BPL candidates. 08 weeks (240 hrs) of intensive training in Soft Skills and Food & Beverage Service.

Empowering 300 students of Classes IV, V and VI in Government Model Sanskrit School, Gurgaon with English proficiency and life skills.
