Executive Summary

Visan Foundation is supported by dedicated academicians who strongly believed in the holistic development of the students by hand holding them right from their formative school years, eventually making them better prepared for the challenges of the world, by imparting its numerous training programs.

The various programmes designed by the foundation aimed at creating awareness, livelihood and job opportunities, as well as instilling an inquisitive thinking in the students. Having done that, the Institute provides employable skills along with technical job-related specialised skills to ensure the placement of students in organizations with a good career progression, thus securing a sound future growth and rise for these students to enable them to easily get integrated in the main stream society.

In this training program we trained the students from North East India. This training program helps them to build their career in Hospitality sector. Most of the students are from Manipur. This institute is the right place for those students who really want to success in the life but due to high expanses on the professional course they are not able to pursue their dreams.

In this institute students learned all the skills which is a GSA Food and Beverage (Service) required in the Hospitality industry. VISAN FOUNDATION team is very grateful to Holiday Inn (A IHG Brand) to join hands with us to empower women and enhance their lives.

She has completed her Graduation from Manipur University but she has no any skills to earn for family. She is the elder one in her siblings. There is a daily fight in the house due to money. The work of the house and the education of the children were not being done, due to which there is a fight in the house. She heard about the Visan foundation from another NGO. Her aim is do this course and make her life. She wants to learn skills here and after learning she was totally changed. Now she is looking smart and full confident. Her Brother is also very happy to see her because his Sister has fulfilled her dreams. "Hatnunthem Khongsaiis from village Ng. Phainom, district senapati, Manipur. At present, there is no one to handle the house, she searched for a lot of jobs for her but did not get the job due to lack of technical education. And she did not have enough money to do a course. Then One day, she saw Visan's advertisement on Facebook and applied immediately. And also joined immediately. She wants a job in a reputed organisation. "K. Rinsingla village sinaluithi, district Ukhrul, Manipur. In her family there are 8 members. Her family condition is not good. Mother is a housewife and her father is doing P.V.T. job in Delhi. Her elder brother who earns for the house. But he does not have enough income to complete the rent of the house and not able to pay fees of his younger brother and sister's education. This has helped the students to understand about the industry where they are stepping in and their job role as well as job profile in details. It has transformed the students who came to us after completing their school education to a budding GSA.

THE PROGRAMME DELIVERY

The training started with research on the curriculum design and structure of the learning objectives with an intensive pre-assessment of the students. The objectives of the study were to analyse the existing teaching methodology and ascertain the level of understanding of students and decide for the future plan.

Initial Assessment Performance Data

Activities

In adult learning activities plays a very important role, as visualization gives more learning then classroom training. During the session students were involved in different activities to mould them in better Guest Service Associate. Activities includes morning assembly, Group Discussion, Quiz competitions, Team Building, Self-Introduction. Hotels visit were organised to understand food and beverage service. Regular competitions were conducted, and prizes were given to encourage students who showed improvement in their service.

Morning Assembly

Each and every day Students used to gather sharp at 9:00 am for morning Assembly, where the national anthem is sung few randomly selected volunteer were made to read out news article from the newspaper that they can be updated with Daily current affairs and can feel fresh and energetic before starting the class. It's really important that it should be conducted on Daily Basis. And we follow it.

Self-Introduction

Students are introducing one by one themselves in details to build their self-confidence. This exercise removed the hesitation from the students which helped them to participate in training activities.

Learning Sequence of services

During practical training students learned how to do service differently while taking care of guest in food and beverage outlets.

Handling Different Type of Guests

Everyday student clarify common doubts of the guest and their acquaintances, describe common guest concerns and the importance of handling the same., learn the process of handling guest queries, learn the details of the meal plan, discuss various types of consent applicable at guest care.

Setting up tables

Here the students are taking the feedback to understand difference between judging and expressing opinion, meaning of Feedback and how to express your understanding in an effective way to improve guest care.

Hotels and Restaurant Visitd

In this exercise the students visited different hotels and interacted with staff and managers to find out the details about the hotels and F&b service. They gathered the idea of different cuisines, dinning customs, cultural practices, social etiquette, communication, teamwork and many other valuable learning. The industry Exposure Along with Academic plays a vital role for better understanding, mix of theory and practical.

Learning with Practical

Food and Beverage Service practical with theory is required for every professional who is employed in hospitality industry ,because practical will only help them to serve guest very nicely, the Visan foundation always encourage the students to learn with practical. A mix of theory and hospitality exposure helps and makes learning easy, they learned about all major departments of Hotels.
